ACTION REQUIRED: Reintroduction of education watermark for AutoCAD 2019 and AutoCAD 2019 vertical products for students and educators

We would like to inform you of the reintroduction of an education watermark for AutoCAD 2019 and AutoCAD 2019 vertical products licensed by students and educators. Millions of students use Autodesk software to help them win design challenges, assist their communities, and build impressive portfolios in time for graduation. Autodesk are committed to offering students access to the same full-product functionality as industry professionals worldwide.

To prevent commercial misuse and promote the legitimate use of free education licenses around the world, Autodesk have decided to reintroduce an education watermark in Autodesk® AutoCAD® 2019 and Autodesk® AutoCAD® 2019 vertical products licensed by students and educators through Education Community. For a full list, please see the FAQ.

What does this mean for students and educators?
When using AutoCAD 2019 or an AutoCAD vertical product under an Education license on their own devices, they will continue to enjoy a fantastic product experience. When plotting, or doing a plot preview of a drawing that was produced using this free version, they’ll see a subtle education watermark displayed.

Note: AutoCAD 2019 and AutoCAD 2019 vertical products licensed through the Autodesk® Education Community by educational institutions and installed on the educational institution’s computers or devices will not produce an education watermark.

Note: If a commercial license is used to copy, paste, insert or reference operations from drawings created using a version of AutoCAD 2019 or AutoCAD 2019-based products that contain the watermark, there will be no watermark “spread” behavior, as experienced with education licenses of AutoCAD 2013 and older.

Education licenses for AutoCAD 2019 and AutoCAD 2019 vertical products will be available to download from www.Autodesk.com/education from April 10th, 2018.

Note: The AutoCAD including specialized toolsets subscription offering is not available for education. Education users will continue to access and install AutoCAD and AutoCAD vertical products separately.

IMPORTANT:

• Please be aware that the watermark applies only to Student Licenses and NOT institutional licenses.
• If a student produces some work using a student license and then incorporates it into a valid Commercial license, the ‘watermarked’ elements will be automatically removed.

ACTION REQUIRED:

1) Please share the this document Email to Education Channel with your partners and inform them about the importance of understanding the use of watermarked software (watermark only applies to Student Licences). Please add the communication to your ATC Portal and distribute this information.

2) There is also an Education Watermark AutoCAD and AutoCAD based 2019 products Customer FAQ available which is currently for distributor use only. However, the FAQ can only be shared with partners after the 10th April 2018. Please DO NOT distribute this document before that date.
