Autodesk® Fusion 360® Update Now Available

Following the article we shared last week on Fusion 360, there has been further updates on this topic.

We are pleased to share important information regarding an upcoming update to the Autodesk Fusion 360 software. This update is specifically relevant to your ALP partners working with academic institutions.
Please share the following announcement with them to ensure a smooth transition and continued compatibility for the students.

Please note that this information was sent to Qualified Educational Institutions who 'opted in' to be notified about Fusion updates that should be installed on their lab computers. Educators can opt-in for Fusion Update information via this form:

Here are a few highlights from this update:

  • Performance
    • Time to start Fusion has been reduced by 70-80%.
    • Opening certain design files is now up to 193% faster.
    • Upload performance has been improved up to 20x. 
  • Design
    • New Fastner Library (McMaster-Carr is still available).
    • Improved Discoverability of Self-intersections During T-Spline-to-BRep Conversion
  • Generative Design 
    • Major Updates to Die Casting Manufacturing Constraint
  • Drawings
    • Copy a historical design version with its related drawings.
    • New Surface and Mesh Model Support.
    • New Line Type Scale.
  • Manufacturing
    • New Geodesic Toolpath Strategy (Machining Extension) 
    • Order optimization for 2D Pocket and 2D Adaptive contours 

Notice: 

  • Fusion 360’s next major update is tentatively planned for Monday November 27, 2023 (~6pm Pacific time). 
  • After the March 2024 product update, Fusion 360 will no longer fully support macOS 11 Big Sur.
