Engage Certification Manager

We are pleased to confirm that Kurien Philip joined the Engage Global Team as Certification Manager on 15th January 2013.

Kurien spent 12 years with NIIT and as Head of Learning Design where he was responsible for all courses designed and developed by NIIT for its local (India) and International Operations across Asia, Africa and the EU.

Testing was of course an integral component of all courses developed by NIIT and Kurien developed testing solutions (software, testing modules and test items), using Blooms Taxonomy for creation of test items and Normal and Adaptive Testing Methodologies for delivery of assessments to learners.

Kurien has worked with experts in the assessment field, while developing test engines for NIIT for use in its education centres and within its LMS and has also designed and developed unique assessment methods such as audio recording, sampling and comparison for enabling spoken language assessment to test pronunciation, etc.

Also for NIIT, Kurien oversaw the development of over 50,000 unique test items for its various national and international courses including translation into various Asian languages - Vietnamese, Mandarin, and also European languages such as Spanish and French and also developed test items for many IT and non-IT companies - the most notable being Windows Workstation and Server 2000 exam series testing for Microsoft, CCNA exam questions for CISCO, Storage Technology Foundations (STF) for EMC and many tests on Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft SQL Server,  Database, Hardware and Networking Concepts  (A+, N+),  and other certification oriented test items for STS.

Since his move to the UK in 2009, Kurien has managed development of test items for many courses delivered by ICS (International Correspondence Schools via their Learning Management System (Moodle). These have included GCSE/A+ level test items as well as professional and vocational qualifications such as CIPD and BTECs. He has also managed to fit in an M. Phil (Education Technology) at Newcastle University.

I am sure you’ll welcome Kurien to the Engage Global Program Team and the ATC Programs worldwide.

Regards,
Graeme Phillips (FLPI, MAPM)
